. The song “Aquele Dia” is an electronic cover of the improvised song “That Day”, by Michael Pitt, performed by the actor for the movie “Last Days” (2006) by Gus Van Saint. This electronic version was performed by João Marçal Marçal in finissage of the exhibition at A Certain Lack of Coherence, on February 17th of 2013.

caixa Alfa remete para as minhas viagens no comboio
Alfa Pendular, entre as cidades de Santarém e Porto. A caixa reúne três peças
distintas: uma miniatura da pintura Alfa
– No land de 2008 (dimensões originais, 25,5 x 368 cm), uma miniatura da
pintura Alfa nº 2 de 2011 (dimensões
originais, 114,8 x 74,3 cm) e uma peça de som intitulada Alfa,
realizada em 2012 e gravada em formato MP3 num iPod shuffle. *
O formato de caixa possibilita a portabilidade destas obras, propondo como condições ideais de visualização estar no interior de um comboio (de preferência o Alfa Pendular no percurso Porto – Santarém, ou inverso), com a caixa aberta sobre o tabuleiro em frente ao assento, ouvindo, em simultâneo, a peça de som Alfa através dos auscultadores do iPod.
O formato de caixa possibilita a portabilidade destas obras, propondo como condições ideais de visualização estar no interior de um comboio (de preferência o Alfa Pendular no percurso Porto – Santarém, ou inverso), com a caixa aberta sobre o tabuleiro em frente ao assento, ouvindo, em simultâneo, a peça de som Alfa através dos auscultadores do iPod.
* Alfa tem a duração
exacta de uma viagem no comboio Alfa Pendular, entre Santarém e Porto. A peça
consiste na repetição alternada de uma badalada de sino extraída do filme Andrei Rublev (1966), de Andrei
Tarkovski, e de uma badalada do sino da Igreja de Nossa Sr.ª do Castelo, em
Coruche.

The box Alfa evokes my
train journeys on the Alfa Pendular between the cities of Santarém and Porto.
The box includes three distinct pieces: a miniature painting Alfa – No land from 2008 (original
dimensions, 25.5 x 368 cm), a miniature painting Alfa nº 2 from 2011 (original dimensions, 114.8 x 74.3 cm) and a
sound piece titled Alfa, produced in
2012 and recorded in MP3 format on an iPod shuffle. *
The box size
enables the portability of these pieces, proposing as optimal viewing
conditions being inside of a train (preferably the Alfa Pendular on the route
Porto - Santarém or the inverse (Santarem -Porto), with the box open on the
tray opposite the seat, listening at the same time to the recording of Alfa with the iPod headphones on.
* Alfa
has the exact duration of a train journey on the Alfa
Pendular between Santarém and Porto. The piece consists of the alternate
repetition between a bell toll extracted from the film Andrei
Rublev (1966), Andrei Tarkovsky, and a bell toll from Nossa Senhora do Castelo Church
in Coruche.
